Our original intent when we first planted our Celosia was to use it for naturally dyeing our yarn. This is our first year growing it and it's looking very promising. I can't wait to get started with using it in our dye baths. The content of our yarn is both an animal and plant based yarn (hemp & wool) and I hope it takes the color well.
We selected Celosia to use for dyeing due to its rich history. It has been used to dye for many years. According to my research the Hopi Inidians used it to dye their leather, baskets, and more. The technique I use may vary from their techniques, but I'm hoping for great dyed yarn!
This is how we are Gardening with Purpose and using our Celosia. How are you using your Celosia?
